NAME: Glen Thompson
RESIDENT OF:
Prince George
NUMBER OF YEARS REFEREEING: 32 years
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT IN
REFEREEING (SO FAR):
There were a couple of memorable moments along the way. In 2001 I was asked to help officiate a Vancouver 86er’s league game versus the Atlanta Ruckus in Prince George. The officiating crew included Referee Rene’ Parra, Assistant John Nielsen and myself. That was a tremendous honor to work with two Fifa officials. Another moment would be when I used to travel to Vancouver to be assessed for my Class 1 certification. These assessments were performed by such individuals as Bob Sawtell, Eric Mason and Neil Ellett amongst others. I have trememdous respect for these people.

ADVICE TO SOMEONE STARTING IN REFEREEING: My best advice would be to watch and learn from other referees. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes and, most importantly, know your Laws of the Game and have a good level of fitness.
